International Summer Residential Workshop – taught in English.
Five full days of Somatic explorations and Dance with Live Music in the exquisite surrounding of the village of Agios Lavrentios which will host us and welcome our work in its beautiful 150m2 dance studio.
Source for authenticity through inner awareness and explorations experiencing our physicality and the quality of expression it gives to our movements working with weight, time and space – Báros, Chrónos, Chôros.
Source for inspiration in connection to the environment, elements and nature in this exquisite place with earthy beauty all around.
Source for creativity and the art of improvisation, as it is in the tradition in Egypt with an open door to new possibilities of expression, finding our own “colour” at whatever level of experience we are.
Source for musicality in our dancing with the support of improvised live music allowing the pulsating and melodic lines and curves of on the spot compositions to move us.
Source for dialogue between ancestral and contemporary poetical concepts on a land where oriental roots and antique substrats are still very present with an ongoing vibrant nowaday existence…
Dance pedagogues Maria Martinez (Choreographer, Dancer, Yoga teacher
& BMC® Practitioner and Teacher) and Marie Al Fajr (Choreographer, Dancer, Wutao teacher & Somatic Educator through Movement – BMC®) have more than 30 years experience in the fields of Egyptian Dance and Movement and are happy to share their expertise for your personal development and self improvement.
Talented musicians from Egypt, Murad Adli (ney and kawala) and
Amir Ezzat (riqq and daff) will improvise for us in a togetherness, supporting dance expression throughout the event, as well as giving an every day music session.

The workshop will be taught in English as we will be an international group with a possible translation in Italian and French if needed.
5 DAYS
The workshop will start on Saturday 25th at 9.30 am and will end on Thursday 30th at 5.30pm.
We will practice from 9.30 am in the morning to 5.30 pm with a long 2 hours break mid day according to the local custom of having a silent siesta.

Away from the main touristic roads, in the Pillion region, 20 km above the city of Volos on the side of mountains planted with olive trees and overlooking the sea, the village of Agios Laventrios offers beauty all around, a 150m2 dance studio, amazing spots for our dance restitutions outside, calm and authenticity (no cars in the heart of the village), affordable hotels and Rbnb, local life at night around the main square surrounded by taverns where you can eat for a very reasonable price.
10 km away from the sea, its altitude at 650m gives the village a mild and pleasant climate in Summer.
